Reliance Rail´s Sydney Double-Deck Suburban Train Project in Australia is one of the finest train projects in the world at the moment. The project will deliver 78 trains consisting of 8 cars per train, all in all 626 cars. What makes the project unique from the Train Information System point of view, is the fact that for the first time in the train industry, a major rolling stock project will run all the train-borne, non-safety critical data traffic on Ethernet and based on industry standard IP-protocols.

The train manufacturing project is a joint venture between Downer EDIRail and Hitachi. EKE-Trainnet® electronic Train Information System (eTIS) is a full train control and diagnostics system that integrates all intelligent subsystems in the train into one system. All the data communication will be managed with EKE´s Ethernet Switching Units with Power-over-Ethernet feature.
