CFR S.A. (Romanian Railways) - Several projects
Romania has an extensive railway network which is significantly interconnected with other European railway networks, providing pan-European passenger and freight services. Strong investments are made in order to rapidly increase passenger services and operational efficiency. CFR S.A. is the national infrastructure manager responsible for the public rail infrastructure. CFR is an abbreviation of Căile Ferate Române (translated "Romanian Railways," abbreviated as CFR).
The passenger traffic on the Romanian railway network is operated almost exlusively by the CFR Călători S.A. (translated "CFR Passengers"). CFR Călători is the national train operating company for passenger transport resulted from the break-up of SNCFR (Societatea Natională a Căilor Ferate Române).
EKE-Electronics has established a good relationship to CFR Călători S.A. with the local coach manufacturer partners like Astra Vagoane Călători and Remar. EKE-Electronics´ local system integrator partner is SC Tehmin-Brasov SRL (www.tehmin.ro), who have implemented the following features for CFR trains: Door control, lightning control, passenger information system, and battery management. Tehmin-Brasov has also implemented the diagnostics funtionality on-board the trains.
