Implementation

EKE-Electronics Ltd. has developed a state-of-the-art family of Ethernet Switching Units (ESU) for railway rolling stock implementations. The EKE-Trainnet® ESU complies with the strict EN 50155 standard for electronics in railway rolling stock.

The EKE-Trainnet® ESU enables the IP communication throughout the train and within the coaches. The backbone is typically realized by fiber optics network where the operating speed is 1 Gbits/s. In coach communication, standard CAT5 copper wires with 100Mbits/s speed are typically used.

To achieve full redundancy the ESU units are connected together as star or ladder-type network.
